Motivation

[edit]

These are Australian Bureau of Statistics identifiers for formally specified geographic regions. Some defined by them, some approximating regions defined by other government entities. Their URLs will provide a quick link to 2021 census information about those regions. These are expected to go live next year. Wikipedia currently links to the 2016 version of these pages for demographic information, but it would be nice to be ready for 2021, even possibly drawing populations from Wikidata if we have done the matching in advance. The 2011 and 2016 versions of this identifier, Australian Statistical Geography 2011 ID (P4014) and Australian Statistical Geography 2016 ID (P4093), are working well and certain important subsets are fully matched. 99of9 (talk) 11:05, 13 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
