Thesaurus Linguae Aegyptiae text witness ID

Motivation
[edit]In the realm of texts, the TLA differentiates between three concepts:
- textual artifacts/objects (Thesaurus Linguae Aegyptiae object ID (P12185)), potentially containing more than one text (e.g., Papyrus Prisse)
- abstract textual works (Thesaurus Linguae Aegyptiae textual work ID (P12186)), potentially witnessed in different copies/versions (e.g., (i) The Teachings of Ptahhotep, (ii) The Teachings for Kagemni)
- concrete written texts, potentially copies/versions of an abstract textual work (e.g., (i) the copy/version of The Teachings of Ptahhotep on Papyrus Prisse, (ii) the copy/version of The Teachings for Kagemni on Papyrus Prisse).
This proposal concerns the third concept (concrete written instances of texts), as represented in the Thesaurus Linguae Aegyptiae. --Dwer (talk) 14:21, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Comment It's good to link existing wikidata items, but can you explain why there are two identifiers for the same item in several of your examples? Does the item actually correspond to the thing identified, or are we missing a layer of meaning here? ArthurPSmith (talk) 20:52, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
- Comment @ArthurPSmith: This is because there are no ancient Egyptian entries of type individual copy of a work (Q114055128) or text witness (Q61963396) or version, edition or translation (Q3331189), which are concrete texts/text versions, but only entries of type inscription (Q1640824) or manuscript (Q87167), which are objects and concrete texts/text versions at the same time. The latter objects, however, sometimes contain more that one text (these are the examples above). --Dwer (talk) 11:00, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
