I am re-applying for the admin tools since I was de-admined on 1 March for inactivity. I mostly use the tools to check deleted contributions, as I operate User:Pi bot, which in particular now creates new items here for new Wikipedia articles (after searching for any potential existing items and putting them into a Wikidata Game for human review), and I regularly check cases where the items have been deleted/nominated for deletion to make sure the bot is working OK (often deleting them myself where appropriate, but others have got there first recently!). I do similar work while maintaining the Wikidata Infobox on Commons. Accessing deleted items is not a logged admin action. I also run User:Pi admin bot, which maintains the list of properties for deletion that you see on your watchlist (the template this uses is admin-protected).
I was previously supported 40:0 in 2020. I've been a Wikimedian since 2005, and I've been editing here since 2016. I have over 200k edits here, and over 480k globally. In addition, Pi bot has made over 12 million edits (9m on Wikidata). I currently have admin access on both enwp and Commons. I'm also very involved in Wikimedia governance. Thanks. --Mike Peel (talk) 13:08, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

- Support I was awaiting this. Just try to make sure we don't have to remove your tools again :) EPIC (talk) 13:52, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

- Support If you need quick loggable admin actions, there are lots of deletion lists to choose from. Mahir256 (talk) 16:19, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @Mahir256: Thanks for the links. I know it's easy to find such lists, and if I'd have had any notice prior to being de-admin'd I'd have quickly done the 2 logged actions I was short of for the minimum activity requirements, but there was no warning this time. I also want to be more active in these areas (as I have been in the past), but have had to be more active in other areas of Wikimedia of late. Thanks. - Support We need to treat good-faith contributors better than this (and not waste everyone else's time by requiring redundant RfAs). Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 17:29, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose tendency towards what I think is poor judgement on RfD and COI as Commons admin --Emu (talk) 18:58, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @Emu: can you elaborate, please? Using Wikidata on Commons and admin'ing Wikidata shouldn't be in conflict... Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 22:56, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- While I can't speak for Emu, I think (a feeling, though not unjustifiable) you have been considerably more inclusionist than other admins to the point that you effectively warp or outright discard any parts of the notability criteria that would even hint at excluding a particular item. My links to the maintenance lists in my vote are more exhortative and insistent, rather than merely suggestive, to make the deletions presented in those lists. Mahir256 (talk) 23:57, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Hmm, I don't think I go that far, although I do tend to think that an item shouldn't be deleted if it's in use, e.g., on Commons. One of the reasons I backed away from RfD somewhat, since a wider discussion needs to happen there sometime. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 00:12, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @Mahir256 I couldn’t have described my issues with this style of admin actions in a more circumspect way. It’s not that I don’t value Mike’s contributions to Wikidata or indeed the Wikimedia communities at large, I just think that admins should be more careful not to let their individual preferences influence their admin actions. --Emu (talk) 11:33, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

- Weak support - very likely his free time is scattered toward different Wikiprojects (esp. because admin in Commons), but there is lack of admins in Wikidata, so even little help by super-Wikipedians is really appreciated in Wikidata--Estopedist1 (talk) 13:10, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
