Pokémon world routes
|
Route 2 (Japanese: 2番道路 Route 2) is a route on Alola's Melemele Island, connecting Hau'oli City to Big Wave BeachUSUM, Verdant Cavern, and Route 3. A Motel, Hau'oli Cemetery and the Berry fields are located along the route.
Route description
Route 2 is a seaside path connecting the southern and northern parts of Melemele Island and serves as a training area for many local Trainers. A motel is situated near the southern end of the route, while a Pokémon Center is located near its northern end. The northern end is initially blocked off by a barricade, which are moved aside once the player has cleared Ilima's trial at the Verdant Cavern.
Team Skull Boss Guzma's home is located on this route. During the post-game of Pokémon Sun and Moon, the player can find Guzma at his house and talk to him. Doing so makes him challenge the player to a battle at the Hau'oli City Beachfront, where he then moves to in order to wait for their arrival.
When first traversing the route in Pokémon Sun and Moon, a Delibird leads the player to the Berry fields, where they must drive off a pair of Team Skull Grunts who are harassing the owner of the fields before they can move on. In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, a Crabrawler blocks the route instead, forcing the player to visit Big Wave Beach and defeat a Team Skull Grunt there to make the Crabrawler move out of the way.
In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, after clearing Hala's grand trial, the player can help the Trial Guide watching over the barricade by taking over for them for a while once per day. During this time, Ilima will receive one or two island challengers attempting to challenge the Verdant Cavern's Totem Pokémon. Depending on whether Ilima declares them successful or not, the player has to either open the barricade for them or leave it unopened. Doing the correct thing will earn the player a Soda Pop as a reward from the Trial Guide when he returns, while doing the wrong thing will result in him only giving the player a Fresh Water.

The first Berry in a large pile is fixed to a specific berry as below, whereas the rest are random. In large piles, the player will always find a high level Crabrawler hiding among the Berries that the player must defeat in order to collect them; small piles only occasionally have low level Crabrawler hiding among the Berries.
