Amarys (Japanese: ネリネ Nerine) is a character introduced in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. She is a student attending Blueberry Academy, where she serves as president of the student council,[2] and a member of the BB League Elite Four. She uses Steel-type Pokémon.

In the core series games

Amarys has a formal way of speaking and uses robotic movements. She maintains a reserved, cool exterior, but deep down, she also really cares about her friends. She is good friends with Carmine, and shows a great deal of concern for Kieran.[3][4] She is ranked as the second-lowest Elite Four member in Blueberry Academy, situated at Canyon Plaza.

The player first encounters Amarys at Central Plaza, having a talk with Carmine before leaving. When she's later met again in the Blueberry Academy Cafeteria, she objects to letting the player enter the BB League, but is ultimately outvoted. Her Elite Trial is called the Flying Time Trial, in which the player must clear a flying trial within a certain amount of time. In order to complete this trial, she feeds KoraidonS/MiraidonV with a supplement that allows it to fly for the duration of the trial. After the trial has been cleared, Amarys can be battled. She rewards the player with TM225 (Hard Press) upon being beaten. The player can retake her Flying Time Trial at any time by talking to the Canyon Plaza receptionist.

After the player has completed the main story of The Indigo Disk, Amarys is found in Classroom 3-2. When the player speaks to her, she gives them more supplements to feed to KoraidonS/MiraidonV whenever they want to fly with it, only for it to gobble up all the supplements in one go, gaining the permanent ability to fly. Amarys also informs the player that the hardest difficulty version of the Flying Time Trial is now available for them to try, should they so choose. She can also occasionally be found in the League Club Room, where she offers to rematch the player once a day.

Appearance

Amarys is a young woman with curly black and silver hair styled in a way to resemble screws poking out of her head. She's black with turquoise eyes, and wears glasses as well as the BB Winter Uniform.

Pokémon

Amarys keeps her Pokémon in Heavy Balls. She sends out her Metagross last and will Terastallize it at the first opportunity.

Traded to the player

Upon the third unique interaction with Amarys in the League Club Room, she will trade a Skarmory to the player in exchange for almost any Pokémon excluding Shiny, Legendary, or Mythical Pokémon.

Amarys is introduced as a Supporter card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game during the English Scarlet & Violet Series (the Japanese Scarlet & Violet Era). It was first released in the Japanese Terastal Fest ex subset, with artwork by Akira Komayama. This card allows the player to draw 4 cards; however, if the player has 5 or more cards in their hand at the end of the turn in which they used the card, the player has to discard their entire hand.

Trivia

  • Amarys mistakenly believes KoraidonS/MiraidonV is called “Agias” (Japanese: アギャッス Agyas), due to its cry sounding as such.
  • Amarys is the only Blueberry Academy Elite Four member whose year in education in Blueberry Academy has not been revealed.
