Chimney sweep -categorisation help and advice.
editHi, a number of fairly experienced editors have contributed to Chimney sweep which features the World's first recognised occupational disease and first legislation against child labour, either of which should make it a high importance article. Unbelievably it's languishing as a low importance household item yet we can't find anywhere else to classify it -or to get the expert attention it deserves. It might need to be merged with Chimney sweeps' carcinoma and it needs more sources but it is a potential featured article. Please advise -and thanks in eager anticipation! Interested in contributing to new articles and cleaning up existing ones
editI've had a lot of experience working with wikis and love this topic. There doesn't seem to be a lot of contributors or discussions. Has anyone created an article template to use to start new ones? DeWriterMD (talk) 04:35, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
- DeWriterMD Hello, sorry that I missed your message. It is true - not many people are at this project and it is not well established. I am not sure what you mean by a template for starting new articles. Articles to be created usually are just listed. Anyone making a very small article will get the "stub" template on it, which puts it in this project's queue as something which exists and ought to be developed. The main template for sorting this is the banner template on the main page of this project. If you have questions about home economics stuff ask and ping me by saying my name {{u|Bluerasberry}} and I will go to wherever you are and talk. If you want to tour Wikipedia functionality then email me sometime and I would meet you on phone or Skype to look at things live. Blue Rasberry (talk) 20:14, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
Manual of style - section order
editI was thinking of proposing a manual of style for section headings and section order of products. The idea would be that if someone wanted a suggestion for what to include in an article about a product, like an appliance, daily use item like soap, or some other household fixture like a rug, then they can have a standardized model. I would not suggest forcing this on anyone, but just presenting something for people to use if they wish to do so.
The most developed such manual of style that I know for bodies of articles is at WikiProject Medicine's Medical Manual of Style. They have a section listing for drugs and devices. Based on that, here is my draft proposal for home products:
- Order for products
- Uses
- Reasons to avoid use
- Mechanism of action
- Physical description
- Frequency of use (how commonly is it used)
- History
- Society and culture
- Legal status (off-label use or unlicensed preparations if notable and sourced)
- Economics
- Marketing
- Research
I have not thoughtfully consider the order or section headings in any range of articles. Right now I am just floating the idea of developing a standard for this. Blue Rasberry (talk) 14:57, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
- I drafted some further thoughts with the toaster article at Talk:Toaster/Archive 1#Rearrange_sections. Blue Rasberry (talk) 22:27, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
Home show article
edit- Just curious … does this article about an annual home show fit into your WikiProject? I was going to give it a Start rating for Wiki-Oregon team, but I thought I’d see if you folks were interested in adding your tag to it before I scored it.--Orygun (talk) 22:55, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
Affordable housing has become very long - propose splitting off section
editHello, this is in reference to Affordable housing, which is about twice the recommended Wikipedia page size. Since this page is a C-class, Top-importance page in your project, I wanted to drop by and propose splitting off the section on New York City into its own page. Please discuss: Talk:Affordable housing. Thanks! Seahawk01 (talk) 03:32, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
Cleanup at WikiProject Home Living
editSeahawk01 has expressed some interest in developing the top and high importance articles for this WikiProject.
I am unable to commit to article content development, but I can contribute to an effort to sort this project's articles out better and set development goals.
This project still has not published a scope of coverage, which ought to be at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Home_Living/Assessment#Importance_Scale. By defining a scope then we can more easily identify which articles are a priority for development to have the most impact.
Assessment should not be a priority because it is only a means to content development. However, a little conversation and goal setting might be useful to get started. Seahawk, you found the typical place to start article development, which are important C-class articles.
What do you think of these lists? What should be priority? Blue Rasberry (talk) 13:13, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
- Bluerasberry here are two suggestions:
- * clean up the smaller pages and see if we can just promote them. Going through the lists, these are some of the smaller pages: Bed, Buyer's remorse, Dishwashing liquid, Drawing room, Furniture, Home appliance, Housing trust fund, Infant bed, Log house, Mansion, Mobile home, Personal life, Plumbing, Screwdriver, Sink, Spoon, Toolbox
- * leverage our effort by trying to involve larger WikiProjects. Here are a few candidates: Bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers, International Style (architecture), Pet, Apartment, Causes of the Great Recession, Screwdriver, etc
- I could go around to the different WikiProjects and request some help editing. For example, Screwdriver is high-importance to both Metalworking and Woodworking

Seeking editors interested in real estate article improvement
editHello, Wikipedia! It's Jessica from JLL. I have some suggestions to update incorrect information and add missing information in the "Operations section" of the JLL (company) article. I am posting here in hopes of finding some editors interested in real estate and want to help improve this article. You may review the full request with at Talk:JLL_(company)#Suggestions_to_Operations_section.
Due to my conflict of interest, I will only post to talk pages and refrain from making direct edits. I welcome your feedback! Thank you. JKatJLL (talk) 15:20, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
Stoves articles (plural) are a mess
editThe disambiguation is terrible between stove, oven, kitchen stove, and cook stove. I also found issues such as the fact that stovetop and similar terms have been redirecting to kitchen stove for years rather than cooktop. Does anyone want to sort this out? Some edits at Wikidata may also be necessary. {{u|Sdkb}} talk 00:41, 22 June 2020 (UTC)
I can help with Wikidata. Feel free to ping me. Besides, I'm wondering whether there are authoritative definitions of these things or not, and there are differences between American English and British English or not. --迴廊彼端 (talk) 14:49, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
Sherwin-Williams article updates
editHi, my name is Mira and I am the employee representative for Sherwin-Williams here on Wikipedia. I posted a request on the Sherwin-Williams talk page to hopefully work with editors to make improvements to the article while following the site's guidelines for editors like me with a conflict of interest. As an employee, I will refrain from editing the article and related articles directly. I won't list my full request here, but you may review it on the Sherwin-Williams talk page.
This WikiProject is listed on the Sherwin-Williams article, so I thought it would be a good idea to reach out to see if there were any interested editors.
Please let me know if this is the preferred way for a conflict of interest editor like myself to best collaborate with editors! I welcome your questions and feedback if they arise. Thanks in advance! MiraSherwin-Williams (talk) 20:38, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
- Hello again, I'm just closing the loop here to say that I received assistance with my initial suggestions for improving the Sherwin-Williams article. I also learned new tricks for requesting future help. Other interested editors here are welcome to join the conversation at the Talk:Sherwin-Willams page and assist with future requests. I will continue to suggest edits to the article, while refraining to edit the content myself, due to my conflict of interest. Thanks again! MiraSherwin-Williams (talk) 21:14, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
New request: History section draft: Hello editors, MiraSherwin-Williams here again to see if there are any interested editors willing to take a look at my most recent request on the Sherwin-Williams Talk page. Specifically, I have drafted content to add a History section to the current article and posted it, along with references, for the community's review. I included the edit request template with my original post but it remains unanswered so far. I am requesting reviewing editors to check my work and integrate some version of this new draft into the current article on my behalf. I will not do so myself because of the site's guidelines for conflict of editors like me. Thanks in advance for any assistance offered! You can view my full request HERE Thanks! Proposed Merge: garage door opener and garage door
editHello editors. It has been proposed that the article garage door opener be merged into the article garage door. And one or both of those articles is within the scope of this WikiProject. If you would like express support for or object to the merge then you are strongly encouraged to do so at the talk page for garage door. Thank you!

Gillette's operations in Canada
editHello! Erin here with the public relations firm Ketchum Inc. I've submitted a request here to update the Gillette article's Canadian headquarters section. Until recently, this section was completely unsourced. The newly added source is helpful for confirming a few details about the company's operations in Canada, but doesn't quite verify the specific text within the section, so I've shared replacement text based on sourcing. Can any WikiProject Home Living members please review and update the page since I cannot? Thank you! EA.Ketchum (talk) 17:35, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
Elderly homes articles
editThe group of home articles related to the elderly currently includes Retirement home, retirement community, Nursing home, assisted living, and possibly others. They're all stubby, and some should possibly be merged (I'll leave that call to someone more familiar with the subject area). Some WP:AFI noms might be in order once we figure out which pages to focus on. (And I say "we", but 90% chance I'm talking to myself here, since everyone else is busy creating military history/video game pages *sigh*.) {{u|Sdkb}} talk 20:23, 11 February 2021 (UTC)
Another disambiguation mess
editHelp would be appreciated sorting out Hallway, Hall, Hall (concept), and related pages. {{u|Sdkb}} talk 06:28, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
Invitation Homes
editIf editors are interested, there is a request to improve the "Overview" section of the Invitation Homes article at Talk:Invitation Homes. Full disclosure: I made this request on behalf of my employer, therefore I have a conflict of interest. Kristi at IH (talk) 21:35, 12 July 2021 (UTC) Kristi at IH
Zero carbon v Net Zero house
editYou can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
Someone changed "zero carbon housing" to be also "net zero home" in June 2024. This conflates two different concepts. We already have a separate article for low-energy house -- 64.229.90.32 (talk) 21:45, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
