European spruce bark beetle
The European spruce bark beetle (Ips typographus), is a species of bark beetle in the true weevil family, Curculionidae. It is found in Europe and Asia Minor and east to China, Japan, North Korea and South Korea. Bark beetles are so named because they reproduce in the inner bark, living and dead phloem tissues, of trees. Their preferred trees in which to reside include spruces, firs, pines and larches. The species has the ability to spread quickly over large areas and some scientists hypothesize that long-distance movements originating from the Iberian Peninsula may have contributed to its invasion of northern Norway spruce forests. This female European spruce bark beetle was photographed in Naninne in the province of Namur, Belgium.Photograph credit: Ivar Leidus

Blog notability

[edit]

ping @Binksternet: Respectfully wish your help with something here because I have been contacted offline by someone wishing to start a page about a local blog of news/etc. I looked around and didn't find any notable blogs of less than millions of readers and was wondering if you could put link to and/or provide guidance on the notability of blogs, specifically one like the one of interest? I don't find two reliable secondary sources about it and I live in the area, so I would assume I would be able to do so. It looks like mostly a press-release regurgitator with some form of automated pages for the road information and all the public record stuff. Also I have asked the someone to define their paid/unpaid relationship to the company "Lost Coast Communications" which has only a template because they own some local radio stations, see [1]. The local radio stations of course have entries, but there is apparently no entry for the parent organization at present. Nor am I aware of the notability of entities which own radio stations. Thanking you again for your help and thanks also for leaving your reply here where the archiving will be slower and the chance of a newcomer finding your reply much greater. Cheers! I'm in the same boat. I looked around and didn't find even one reliable independent source discussing Lost Coast Outpost. Of course, WP:GNG requires multiple third party sources, so we are woefully short on notability. Binksternet (talk) 17:11, 29 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Ellin Beltz (talk) 15:31, 30 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
ping @Binksternet: The draft https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Lost_Coast_Outpost was declined. Ellin Beltz (talk) 17:03, 3 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I put that draft on my watchlist a few days ago when I was taking a look around the wiki for our Lost Coast friends. I would have declined it, too, for lack of reliable secondary sources discussing the topic in depth and thus establishing notability. Binksternet (talk) 19:27, 3 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled granted

[edit]

Hi Ellin Beltz, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 10:26, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kudpung: Thank you very much!! I am getting ready to put up more accounts for the buildings in the Ferndale Historical District and being autopatrolled is a great honor! Ellin Beltz (talk) 18:29, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Review of Ferndale Museum

[edit]

Hi Ellin. I noticed that you were likely the creator of the Ferndale Museum article. I'm an unpaid volunteer there that has edited that article somewhat extensively to get it updated. Since I'm a "connected contributor", I would appreciate your review of the article, and if you are so inclined, to remove the COI tag. Best regards to you. Always precious

[edit]

Ten years ago, you were found precious. That's what you are, always.

How lovely to hear your voice here again, "fight with love" ;) - I remember our recent uplifting choral concert in pictures, on my user page and in my concerts. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:56, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Magdalena Hinterdobler is on the Main page today, together with an opera that reviewers deemed not interesting and too obscure for our general readers. The soprano thought differently, - listen and see. - Also on the Main page: a TFA by sadly missed Vami_IV. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:18, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

did you listen and see? - today's story has a pic of a woman holding her cat, a DYK of 5 years ago - the recent pics show 2 orange tip butterflies --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:45, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

today's story mentions a concert I loved to hear and a piece I loved to sing in choir, 150 years old OTD. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:32, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
