Etymology
[edit]From امـ (em, “to-; this”) + روز (ruz, “day”), from Middle Persian 𐭫𐭣𐭭𐭤 (im, “this”) + 𐭩𐭥𐭬 (rōz, “day”). Compare Mazanderani ام رو (am ro, “today”),[1] Central Kurdish ئەمڕۆ (emrro, “today”), Northern Kurdish îro (“today”), Pashto نن ورځ (nan wraź, “today”).
