     He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, EnglandG. He was with E. and A. Robinson at Redcliffe, Bristol, England. He gained the rank of Trooper in the Welsh Regiment. He fought in the First World War.

     William Abernethy, 7th of Saltoun was the son of Sir William Abernethy of Saltoun, younger and Margaret Borthwick.2 He died before 1428, without issue.1

     Dr. Thomas Arnold was born on 13 June 1795 at Cowes, Isle of Wight, England.1 He was the son of William Arnold and Martha Delafield.1 He married Mary Penrose, daughter of Reverend John Penrose and Jane Trevenen, on 7 August 1820 at Fledborough, Nottinghamshire, England.1,2 He died on 12 June 1842 at age 46 at Rugby, Warwickshire, England.1

     From 7 August 1820, her married name became Arnold.1
