Discussion
[edit]- Support I was not expecting a unified proposal so I hope I did not miss some aspects while revising them all together.--Alexmar983 (talk) 16:07, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

- Comment I don't know the usual practice for works, but it seems to me that a few of those texts, at least those of digilibLT and Musisque Deoque, are explicitely based on a specific version, edition or translation (Q3331189) rather than being a generic literary work (Q7725634). For the latter, however, a critical apparatus (Q1665273) is present, when available. Can it be considered enough to refer to the original work rather than an edition? --Jahl de Vautban (talk) 17:23, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Jahl de Vautban: I would answer "tendentially yes", although your precisation is very appropriate. Of course it can be matter of further discussion :) --Epìdosis 17:33, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Epìdosis: I recall the issue arising for ToposText work ID (P8070), that's why I'm bringing it here :) I perfectly understand why someone would think it's better to link them to the original work, as it's anyway the aim of those various websites: I don't think any of them has any plan to upload several editions of the same work in the near future. Some websites do, however, like the Scaife viewer: this is for History of the Peloponnesian War (Q639493), and you can then access various editions and translations — a potential new property by the way ! But if I'm pragmatic, the best in my opinion would still be to do as you proposed, and only link with specific editions when several are available, because at this point there will also be one page for the original work. So I'll give my Support --Jahl de Vautban (talk) 18:34, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
